Valentine's Day

Don't worry, I am not about to give a historical timeline of how Valentine's day came to be.
There are more reliable sites there where you can get a dose of that.

I would just like to state it here to serve as mental note.  Maybe my outlook will change in 5 or 10 years?

It's just that, I never found anything special about Valentine's Day.  I don't understand why people have to go out of their way to buy flowers, go on special dates, shower their loved ones with some romantic lines.  Really, why?

I mean, things like these, you don't need a specific date to do those.

Isn't it being pretentious that you do those things just because it's Valentine's Day?
Just because everybody's doing it doesn't mean you have to do it.

I'm not a fan of crowded places.
How can you relax, how can you feel the moment if there is that pressure that there are so many people "celebrating" and the service in that place sucks because there's too much people?

How can you have long walks when there are too many people.  Hell, you won't even know how many thieves are out there waiting for the next hypnotised couple--too busy to actually notice they are being victimized already.

Or have I just lost the sense of being romantic.

I don't know, isn't it more romantic if a place is calm and quiet and there are few people around?
And spending that moment just because you know you love and deserve each other NOT BECAUSE there is an occasion.

I will not deny it, ze husband and i would always go out on Vdays but they are barely what you can call dates.  We went out only because we were to watch concerts of foreign artists.  But that's it.  Nothing too fancy, thankyouverymuch.

Hell, I wouldn't want to walk around on Vday holidng a bouquet of flowers.  Eew.
That's just.. a tad TOO ORDINARY.  And that is not me.

Non-conformist I might be.

My only point is, you don't need a Vday to make someone feel treasured.  Do it every single day.

I totally agree! I find Valentines Day as over-rated and too commercial... that's why I never celebrate V days (ever) since I hooked into intimate relationship. Why only on V days if we can express our romanticism any time, any day? Doesn't make sense anyway!
